The exercises below are based on earlier units in our "Sentence Structure" chapter.


Editing Exercise 1


The sentences below are from students' writing and contain errors with prepositions. 
Locate the errors and rewrite each sentence correctly.  If the time reference is unclear, use what seems most appropriate from the context. Use appropriate punctuation. 


1.  ...
not to be afraid of problems.

2.  Many college students ... take care of their families after school.

3.  ... agree with John.

4.  ...the questions we ask ourselves.

5.  ... couldn't help her.

6.  I think the quality of education depends on the teacher.

7.  ... gave Juan a piece of paper.

8.  ... the teacher handed out the test papers.
     ... the teacher handed the test papers out.
