The language on the keys was different.\u00a0 Even the keyboard was different from the American keyboard: keys were in different places than I was accustomed to!<\/h3>\n<p>So let&#8217;s take a look at the English language keyboard used here in the United States and let&#8217;s learn what everything is.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll begin with the left side of the keyboard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eslhelpdesk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2000px-Qwerty.svg_.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-337\" title=\"2000px-Qwerty.svg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eslhelpdesk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2000px-Qwerty.svg_-1024x493.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eslhelpdesk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2000px-Qwerty.svg_-1024x493.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.eslhelpdesk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2000px-Qwerty.svg_-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/www.eslhelpdesk.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2000px-Qwerty.svg_.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe top left <strong>key<\/strong> that says &#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Esc<\/span><\/strong>&#8221; is for &#8220;<strong>ESCAPE<\/strong>&#8220;.  You use this key to escape from any bad situations.  Be careful, because this might <strong>close any programs<\/strong> that you have <strong>running<\/strong>.  We use this word &#8220;escape&#8221; as a noun (<em>he planned his escape<\/em>), as an adjective <em>(the escape route)<\/em>, and as a verb<em> (he escaped)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On the left, you have <strong>the &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tab<\/span>&#8221; key<\/strong>. The &#8220;tab&#8221; key moves a certain number of predetermined spaces to the right each time you <strong>hit<\/strong>, or <strong>click,<\/strong> it. We use this as a verb (<em>to tab over to a certain point<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Beneath that, you have the &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Caps Lock<\/strong><\/span>&#8221; key.  &#8220;Caps&#8221; stands for &#8220;<strong>capitals<\/strong>&#8221; and it<strong> locks<\/strong> the capital letters into place.<\/p>\n<p>Beneath that, you have<strong> the &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Shift<\/span>&#8221; key<\/strong>.\u00a0 Pressing this <em><strong>alternates<\/strong><\/em> your letters between small letters and capital letters (small letters and &#8220;caps&#8221;) and alternates the number row between the numerals and the symbols (such as the <span style=\"color: #993300;\">numeral 2<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #993300;\">the symbol @<\/span>, or <span style=\"color: #993300;\">the numeral 8<\/span> and <span style=\"color: #993300;\">the symbol *<\/span>). &#8220;Shift&#8221; is also a verb: <em>You shift between capital letters and small letters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Beneath the &#8220;Shift&#8221; key you have <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">the &#8220;Control&#8221; key<\/span>.<\/strong> You use the Control key together with another key to perform some function that you desire.
